Popular with families, dog walkers and exercisers alike, Millfields Park is a hidden gem, just waiting to be explored. Locals love to spend time here enjoying nature and the company of family and friends. If you want to get out in nature during your apart hotel stay in Stratford this is a great place to burn off some energy.
The park runs alongside the river so look out for moorhens and ducks as you stroll along, find a bridge for a game of pooh sticks or to take some gorgeous pictures. Explore the community orchard or the conservation area and then head out onto the marshes. There’s even a hidden beach if you can find it! Take a picnic and make the day of it or pop into the Millfields coffee shop for a nice hot or cold drink and a slice of cake while you watch the world go by.
If you’re looking for a little more entertainment or activity, there are two children’s playgrounds in different areas of the park and a trim trail, tennis courts, football pitch, athletics track, basketball court and cricket pitch. Chances are if you visit at the weekend you’ll be able to watch a local match in action. There are even free fitness sessions for adults and play sessions for children at various times of the year.
Millfields Park is also licensed for events such as films and live music so you may be able to catch a performance in action, particularly during the summer months. This tree-lined park is well worth a visit in any season, take in the beauty of the frost on the ground, enjoy the riot of autumn leaves swirling in the breeze, sunbathe or have a BBQ in the summer and look out for explosions of colour as the park comes into bloom in spring.
