Weekend Break to Berlin, a Human Sized City
All our apartments in Berlin
Berlin is an excellent location for a family break. Renting an apartment in the centre of the city will make the most of your holidays in Berlin as it is perfect for getting around easily and allowing you to maximise your time.
The Kurfurstendamm is a 3.5km long boulevard that is well known for its shopping opportunities, but was once the home of Berlin’s rich and famous. It runs towards the Tiergarten and Berlin Zoo which houses more than 15,000 animals roaming free in mainly natural environments. Children will love the petting zoo and next door is an aquarium which also has insects and amphibians.
Classic Architecture & History
Berlin is full of beautiful old buildings, which is surprising given the ferocity of the bombing in the Second World War. The Reichstag, Brandenburg Gate, the Charlottenburg Palace and the Berliner Dom all survived or were meticulously reconstructed after the war. There is now a Holocaust Memorial situated close to the Brandenberg Gate and small sections of the Berlin Wall still remain in a few places with the official Berlin Wall site at Bernauer Strasse. A line of bricks traces the line of the original wall leading to a recreation of the famous Checkpoint Charlie booth. One place that is another must see is the new Potsdammer Place which has been completely rebuilt with an entertainment centre, shopping arcade and some landmark buildings. Don’t forget to check out the famous Wertheim department store on your next city breaks in Berlin!
